Reyna is an author, leadership coach, and a business development strategist.
With an Honours in Law, and a Degree in Government and International Relations, Reyna hoped to join the United Nations, an institution she believed to be exemplary, to help protect human rights and contribute to the end of their abuses. However, by the end of her first year at University, Reyna had realised, with no small amount of shock, that the United Nations did not function in the way she thought. As she worked on her Honours dissertation questioning Corporations and their growing use of the human rights framework for profit, Reyna had to face an even uglier truth: “human rights” was an ideal not legally binding nor enforceable; was being used by powerful nations for advantageous geo-political moves and strategy; and by corporations for further gain.
As a mother, wife, business owner, and a citizen, Reyna witnessed with abject horror as Australia and countries across the world overrode, seemingly overnight, vast swaths of people’s rights and civil liberties at a scale never seen even during the two world wars, and scarily not even in Nazi Germany. With warning bells ringing in her mind, Reyna decided that the time to stand had come, and found kinship with like-minded citizens in the Civil Liberties and Motorists party. Now Reyna fights for the rights and freedoms of Queensland, in hopes that every effort will count.
